Bullet Trains in India: In the next 5 years i.e. by 2027, the country will get its first bullet train. National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) Managing Director Rajendra Prasad said the company will try to run bullet trains in Gujarat by August 2027. The trial run between Surat and Bilimora will be completed by June 2026.

The agency said the High-Speed Rail Corporation has received a lot of support from the Maharashtra government as 98 per cent land acquisition has been completed. He said we have also issued an advertisement and will soon start civil engineering work in Maharashtra.
Regarding Indo-Japan cooperation in the project, Rajendra Prasad said that Japan Shinkansen trains have zero fatality rate and a good safety track record. Japanese quality is known all over the world. Our engineers will also be trained for this in Japan.
The country’s first bullet train project will connect Mumbai, known as India’s economic hub, with the city of Ahmedabad. As part of the cooperation agreement between India and Japan, the Japanese government will provide a soft loan of about Rs 88,000 crore loan with a nominal interest rate of 0.1 percent for this revolutionary rail project in the country with a repayment period of 50 years. Even after 15 years of getting the loan, the repayment will start.
