New Delhi. Work is underway to improve and facilitate road rail transport in the country. Vande Bharat Express (Bande Bharat Expressway) and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (Delhi-Mumbai Expressway) This is the biggest example of this. But now we are moving to a more advanced stage, where rail and bus will run together on the hi-tech expressway. This will be made possible by the country’s first high-speed multi-modal corridor, the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, which is expected to be ready by January 2024.
The construction of this 109 km long expressway started in 2021. It will connect Ahmedabad with greenfield smart city Dhalera. So far 30 percent of the expressway has been completed. This project is going to be special in many ways. Let’s know what are the benefits of this expressway?
Route Map of Multi Modal CorridorThe width of Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway will be 120 meters. Vehicles will run on its 90-metre section and future high-speed rapid rail will run on the 30-metre section under the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). Dhalera is being developed as the country’s first greenfield smart city and will be connected to ports, roads, metros and airports.

The expressway will start from Sardar Patel Ring Road near Sarkhez, southwest of Ahmedabad and will run south from Dholera between NH-8 and SH-4, SH-6, Sabarmati River Course/Khambat Bay. There will be 8 major exchanges.
Travel time will be lessWith this expressway, travel time between Ahmedabad and Dhalera will be reduced and industrial development will increase. After its launch, it will be possible to reach Dhalera in just 1 hour from Ahmedabad. Currently, other routes take 2 to 2.25 hours to cover the distance between these two cities.

- This expressway will provide better, smoother, safer and faster connectivity to commuters.
- The number of accidents will reduce on this expressway as NHAI has fixed the speed limit. If someone breaks this rule, the owner of that vehicle will have to pay a fine.
- Expressways will have rest areas, service roads, underpasses for pedestrians and cattle, traffic posts, emergency medical posts etc.

About 20 lakh metric tonnes of solid waste and 25 lakh metric tonnes of ash generated by thermal power plants within the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation limits are used to build the base of the expressway.
